Sanyo VPC-GH1 Full HD Video Camera
- High quality real 14M photos
- Full HD Videos
- 12x double range zoom
- 38mm wide angle lens
- Digital image stabilizer
- Face chaser
Although it boasts a very compact form factor, the Xacti GH1 can record Full HD videos at 1920 x 1080 resolution, along with genuine high-resolution photos. SANYO developed a new proprietary high-speed image-processing engine to deliver high image quality in a compact package. The engine is designed to reduce power consumption and provide optimal operation in conjunction with the CMOS image sensor. What's more, the GH1 employs a newly developed 12x double-range zoom function for video shooting. This further expands the shooting area for all situations from wide to telephoto.
Double sub REC buttons
To further improve ergonomics and usability, the Xacti GH1 comes equipped with proprietary double sub REC buttons. In addition to the ordinary recording buttons, a second set of recording buttons for photo and video is provided on the upper front part of the chassis. These extra buttons make it much easier to use the camera at a low angle, while maintaining a comfortable shooting posture. Being able to shoot easily at the eye level of your child or pet makes it possible to capture the world from a fresh point of view.
Face chaser
The Xacti GH1 is able to detect up to 12 faces instantly. Even if they move, the GH1 can follow them and adjust the focus and exposure. The Face Chaser function has been developed so that it can even follow faces from a side-on angle.Note: Face detection functionality depends on the subject and shooting conditions.
Digital image stabilizer
For beautiful high-definition video recording, the Xacti GH1 reduces the effect of camera shake that typically occurs when you zoom in on a subject. SANYO's original digital image stabilizer is capable of automatically distinguishing between unintended camera shaking and deliberate pans and tilts.
Quick start
The Xacti GH1 is ready to shoot at any time. Because it records onto a solid-state SD memory card - rather than HDD or DVD media with moving parts - you can start shooting straightaway after opening the monitor.
Support for SDXC memory cards
The Xacti GH1 supports the 64 GB SDXC memory card standard, which specifies high-capacity, high-speed transfers of photo and video data.Note: When the recording file size exceeds 4 GB, the file will be saved, and subsequent data will be saved in a new file. (A new file is automatically created every 4 GB. Although recording will continue until stopped by the user, recording of video clips and sound pauses when files are being saved.)
Simple mode
Settings on the Xacti GH1 are easy to understand, so even beginners can enjoy shooting.
In Simple mode, only the most basic elements are displayed on the LCD monitor.
Simple Mode - This mode displays only the most essential and frequently used functions.
Normal Mode - This mode allows you to access the full range of camera functions.
New 12x double range zoom
The Xacti GH1 features a 12x double-range zoom for shooting videos. By allowing you to switch at the press of a button between different zooming areas - as if you were switching between two lenses with different zoom ratios - this function enables you to shoot through a broader area.*When shooting photos, the maximum zoom range is 5x.
High speed processor and CMOS sensor
Although it boasts a very compact form factor, the Xacti GH1 can record Full HD videos at 1920 x 1080 resolution, along with genuine high-resolution photos. SANYO developed a new proprietary high-speed image-processing engine to deliver high image quality in a compact package. The engine is designed to reduce power consumption and provide optimal operation in conjunction with the CMOS image sensor. Meanwhile, 3D digital noise reduction technology reduces random noise by adding motion judgment to the noise-reduction process. The GH1 also delivers improvements in compression efficiency and bit-rate allocation, resulting in a highly accurate video image. As it employs the advanced MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 video compression format, the GH1 lets you easily save and play back video images on a PC.
285 rorating, 2.7 inch wide screen LCD
Brightness on the Xacti GH1's wide-screen LCD monitor can be adjusted to any of seven levels. Also, the monitor can rotate through approximately 285, so you can easily position it at your preferred angle. This lets you keep your subject clearly in view, whether you're shooting high, low, or at yourself and your kids.
Easy Editing
The Xacti GH1 offers the convenience of editing Full HD videos on the camera itself. You can easily splice multiple clips into a single video, or cut unwanted footage. This feature is particularly useful when it comes to viewing slideshows and using your SD memory card capacity more effectively.Note: If there is insufficient free space on the SD memory card, you may be unable to perform editing functions.A variety of video shooting modes

Realistic high resolution 14 megapixel photos
Despite being a Full High-Definition video camera, the Xacti GH1 can capture realistic 14-megapixel photos just like those taken with a dedicated digital camera. It can even record higher-resolution images at up to 16 megapixels, using real-time interpolation technology*1.
Target a colour
The Xacti GH1 tracks and focuses on moving subjects, such as children or pets, by detecting their colors. Even if you close the LCD panel temporarily, tracking will resume when you start shooting again.Note that this function may not operate properly if the subject is too small for the frame, if the lighting conditions change, or if the subject is a similar color to the background.
Scene selected shot
Simply select the mode best suited to your subject for easy and beautiful shooting.

The high-speed shutter captures fast-moving subjects, such as children, pets, and people playing sports.
The subject stands out against a deemphasized background.
The entire image is captured clearly by focusing on the scene in the distance. This feature is also used when shooting night scenes.
Captures both a foregrounded subject and the night-time atmosphere in the background.

This is useful for shooting against bright backgrounds, such as ski-fields and beaches.
Fireworks in the night sky are captured in all their vivid brightness.
Lets you shoot in the kind of dim lighting conditions that normally produce overly dark images.
Note: A tripod is recommended for shooting at night or in the dark.
Nine point auto focus
The Xacti GH1 focuses automatically on your subject, even if it isn't located in the center of the frame, to prevent your shots from going out of focus.
High sensitivity photos at ISO 1600
At the highest sensitivity of ISO 1600, the Xacti GH1 can capture the natural colors of faces and indoor scenes at night, as well as evening scenes where you don't want to use a flash.Digital Filter
Select the Cosmetic mode to capture beautiful skin tones, or the Sepia or Monochrome modes to create different image effects.

The texture of people's skin comes out naturally and beautifully.
Pictures take on the chic atmosphere of a black-and-white photo.
This mode effectively creates a nostalgic look.
16:9 wide aspect photos
The 16:9 wide mode lets you capture images with a wider aspect ratio, such as sweeping landscapes.Note: Records at a resolution of 12M (4608 x 2592 pixels), 10M (4352 x 2448), 2M (1920 x 1080), or 0.9M (1280 x 720) when in wide mode.
Super macro shooting
The ability to shoot from as close as 1 cm makes the Xacti GH1 a convenient way to photograph accessories and items for online auctions. Now you can take clear, highly detailed close-up shots.
Compact and stylish form factor
It used to be that camcorders were reserved only for special occasions. The concept behind the Xacti series, though, was to make it possible to record video clips of spontaneous everyday happenings. Based on this concept, SANYO has developed a range of devices compact enough to carry anywhere and use anytime. With the Xacti GH1, the ergonomic, rounded form is designed to feel comfortable in your hand - it's the ideal combination of small size and easy usability. - Tech Specs
