There are a lot of camera batteries on the market, and it can be a pretty difficult process deciding what you want and how much you want to pay. There’s also the vexed question of which are the best batteries, and it’s quite common for people to develop preferences.
Finding your batteries
There are easy ways to find the right batteries online:
Search by the camera model- For example Canon LP-E10 will give you the Canon battery and any generic equivalents.
Important:
- Do not search by brand. If you just search “Canon”, you’ll get far too many results. There are literally thousands of different batteries, and the generic brands alone can give pages of search results. Be as specific as possible.
- Also remember that some batteries are multi-compatible with different models of cameras. This can get a little confusing, particularly on a new website where you’re not sure how to find things, but if you search for your own model, you’ll definitely get the right compatible batteries.
Decisions, decisions
Having found your battery, you’ll probably have a choice between the camera brand’s own batteries and major battery makers like Bower, which is a specialist supplier of batteries for all major brands. The real issues are price and quality.
The good news for consumers is that the camera makers are understandably fussy about who sells batteries for their cameras, so you can be sure you’re not getting an El Cheapo battery.
